Excuses? Nah :)

Ok, so I won't lie. My lack of updates is the result of the following recipe:
1 cup traveling
3 cups stress
2 tablespoons of AP testing
a full box of not wanting to blog
stir and put in the freezer until you forget about it: presto!

Now that summer has finally arrived (and not a moment too soon because senioritis had become debilitating), I have no excuses! .....Which is why it still took me a week to write this. Despite my procrastination: I shall do my best to fill you in on everything that was missed (which is WAY TOO MUCH T-T).

Colleges:

D-Day (Decisions Day) was absolutely nerve-racking. Columbia's decision was first, and, even though I received a likely letter, I managed to convince myself that they had gotten my hopes up just to laugh when they rejected me. It so didn't help that the internet went out 3 SECONDS before the decision was released! I mean, THREE SECONDS?! COME ON. Despite the terrible omen, it was good news! :D I GOT IN TO COLUMBIA. And, even more shocking, it was practically affordable O.o. (By that I mean at least $6000 a year).

Johns Hopkins was a funny one. I didn't realize its decision was released on the same date.....until I got an email from the athletics department telling me Congrats on getting ACCEPTED and that I should buy tickets to upcoming games...........BEFORE I GOT MY ACCEPTANCE EMAIL. XD  Sure enough, fifteen minutes letter I got my acceptance email. <3

Now when I didn't get my Harvard email by 12, I knew it was bad news. I ended up having a terrible night because all my dreams were plagued by Harvard Zombies, which were sent to me as their form of rejection. After only getting three hours of sleep, I was only slightly disheartened by the wait-listed email (at least it wasn't a rejection and I wasn't to be eaten by zombies).

The next day, the travels began!

My first trip was up to Ann Arbor to the University of Michigan for a scholarship weekend. They really pulled all the stops, picking me up and putting all the candidates in a nice hotel. Just as I went to sleep, however, I heard someone speaking Russian trying to open my room. Freaked out thinking someone was trying to break in, I waited for them to give up. When they didn't, I finally went to investigate. At first I saw an old man, so I was going to open the door and tell him he had the wrong room. Upon opening the door, however, I saw a girl my age too and we realized we were roommates. ^^' (The story of her trying to break into my room became the way I introduced her to other candidates ;P). I loved the other candidates there though! I had so much fun hanging out with them and talking. For the first time in a while, I was one of the dumber people! (It felt great!) The interview parts were incredibly stressful though! We had to do "group interviews" which are the hardest things ever because not only are you trying to impress the interviewers, but you are "civilly" trying to speak as soon as possible because the other group members WILL steal what you are going say. Plus: there was this one woman who was EXTREMELY intimidating, and, at one point, I said something (that I didn't think was that important) that suddenly made her stop writing, put down her pen, and stare at me. O.o I mean, did I say something interesting or something extremely stupid? Near the end, I saw that she had only starred 3 of our names out of 6. Yikes! Despite being exhausted by the end of the weekend, it was probably my favorite trip! I mean, I got to go down on the football field, sit in on some classes, and meet amazing people. Plus: I got the scholarship :D.

Next was Ohio with my mum, which (after being a little biased against after having so much fun at their nemesis Michigan) I had my reservations about. The area was really nice. I was surprised how nice people were in a city that was pretty big (not huge, but much better than the suburbs I've grown accustomed to). The events they had planned didn't completely wow me, except the medical center. Their medical center was AMAZING. I totally fell in love with it. <3 While I wasn't wowed, it was really nice. :D The people seemed normal enough, the school's HUGE, and the rooms and stuff looked good. My aunt, uncle, and cousins drove up from Cincinnati to see us and we had a great time! It was nice having family close by.

Last was New York City! Now, I've never been to NYC, so I was REALLY excited. :D Imagine my disappointment when our plane got canceled and we didn't leave until the next day. :/ Not cool. I missed half a day in NYC! When I did go there the next day, I practically had to rush over to Columbia. See, I kinda had my heart set on Columbia already, but when I arrived I quickly became torn. The atmosphere was stiffing, the dorms were atrocious, and I didn't love the people around me (in fact, I down right hated some of the arrogant, inconsiderate people who would be part of my incoming class). Some of the aspects I did love, like the science labs and the clubs. But, resoundingly, I found that I wouldn't get many opportunities there and the few chances I would get, I would have to fight to the death for. NYC was unbelievable though! I only had time to go to times square and Central Park but it was so much fun! I loved it! I totally want to go back. <3

My decision ended up coming down to the wire. As much as I wanted an Ivy Name, I had to accept that I knew I would be unhappy at Columbia and didn't choose it. Eventually, I had to go with Ohio State because a full ride and money for study abroad/research is too good to pass up. :D GO BUCKEYES!!!!!

School:

Oh I am so glad to have GRADUATED! (With highest honors and a 4.2 mind you :D.) We got out of school on the 4th, but I was basically back the whole following two weeks for AP testing. Yuck. I totally think I got a five on one or two of my tests (like BC Calculus), but I will be lucky if I got a 3 on Chemistry. :(

Social Life:

What social life? Just kidding :)

It's really been up and down. Me and my (still incredibly amazing) boyfriend broke up (which really sucks, but we're still friends). I did end up going to prom with my best girlfriend Uniqia, and was shocked by how much fun I ended up having. :D Uniqia and I ended up being pretty close by the end of the year <3. Matilde too, I will so cry when she leaves. D: I ended up making even more guy friends. Which, for me, it all still feels really weird! I mean, I never had like more than two or three guy friends, and this year I had like 5 or 6. Some of which, I talk to when I'm at home on im or text or whatever which feels even STRANGER. But it's cool having guy friends (just wish I had more girl ones so I could have some real girl talk).

Due to all the traveling, I, sadly, gained a few pounds. Apparently, I still look good though because a few guys began to flirt with me lately (of course, they wait until I'm done with this place, ha ha, very funny guys). Still, now that it's summer, my "get back in shape!" plan is in full swing. :D

Also since it's summer, I've gotten to enjoy reading again. <3 I have read sooooo much lately, I can't believe it! (Mostly manga though, how I love those manga ^^).

Anyway, I am exhausted. :/ I'll try to keep you filled in more regularly, ja?

Until the next post!
